When the dude turned around asked what they wanted, my friend mentioned his name. My friend and 'cuz then approached the guy.one on each side. They staked out the thief's home and after several hours the perp drove up and parked (in a Chevy Corvette no less!). While there, he asked one of his strapping cousins if he would like to take a drive with him to Atlanta and help with some unfinished personal business. So, a few months later, my friend went to visit family in Arkansas. The thief would not communicate with my friend after that, either. I think the guy gave him a bad check or cancelled it afterwards, as there was much more lag time for a check to clear then than now. Please be aware of this man either on eBay or collector’s forums, he's done this before! Thanks.īack in the latter 1980s had a friend whom sold and shipped a rather expensive German rifle to a guy in Atlanta, Ga. It takes a true sociopath to pull something like this off. Unfortunately, he's going to get away with this scot-free. If you ever see this helmet for sale again or if you ever see Alex bragging about this piece of history he acquired, know that it was outright stolen from me. I know he's part of several collector’s forums and does have an eBay store. I'm letting you and other people that were interested in this historical artifact know what he did, because I've never seen such a brazen attempt at thievery in my life and he should not be allowed on eBay. I contacted eBay and it appears he's exploiting a loophole where I can't file a case of fraud against him simply because I've sold too much on eBay and should be expected to take losses sometimes, so they again forced me to give him his $3500+ back. I contacted Alex immediately and he of course denied sending me a different helmet. Several days later, Alex sent me a fake Chinese reproduction of a WW2 helmet rattling around in a box with no padding. However, of course, eBay forced me to accept the return. The liner looked old too me and I had no points of reference to tell if it had been replaced or not, I was simply selling it as is and said returns will not be accepted. I don't know much about helmets and tried describing the helmet as best I could. I made it very clear on the listing that this helmet was from the collection of a man who has since passed and I'm managing the liquidation of his estate. I sent him the helmet and as soon as he received it, he requested a return on the grounds that he thinks the inner liner was replaced at some point and was mad I didn't mention it in the listing. The auction was won by a man named Alex Gorin in Los Angeles, eBay name (warandpeace).
